How to show your live Discord status on your link in bio
A page can only show your Discord status through a bot that shares a server with you, because Discord gives your presence to the bots of your servers, not to websites. On HOKORA, link Discord in the studio and join the HOKORA server: your page then shows your status, your game and your Spotify track, live. No ID to copy, nothing to send.
What visitors see
- Your status, written out: Online, Away, Do not disturb or Offline.
- Your custom status, with its emoji.
- The game you’re playing, and since when.
- Your Spotify track, with the cover and a link to it, when Discord shows you listening.
The status arrives already written in the page’s HTML: no Discord script runs in the visitor’s browser, and it refreshes about once a minute.
How a page reads your Discord status
Discord doesn’t give your presence to websites. It gives it to bots, and only for the members of the servers they’re in. That’s why live Discord statuses on bio pages go through a bot you share a server with.
Lanyard, an open service, works this way: its README says you just join its Discord server and your presence becomes readable. The catch: readable by anyone who knows your ID. So a page should check the account is yours before showing it. On HOKORA that proof is linking your Discord account.
Set it up on HOKORA
Link Discord
In the studio, open Account, then Discord. Discord’s screen names HOKORA and asks for your identity, never your email.
Join the HOKORA server
The studio gives you the invite. The HOKORA bot only sees the members of its server.
Add the Discord block
It picks up your linked account by itself. “Check connection” tells you if anything is missing.
Publish
Your page at hokora.page/yourname shows your status from now on.
Already on Lanyard?
It still works without linking: join the Lanyard server, send its bot the private message “.set hokora yourname”, and paste your Discord user ID in the block. The message is the proof that the account is yours.
What’s kept, and how to hide it
HOKORA keeps only your latest state, and only for linked accounts with a Discord block that are in the server. Unlink, remove the block or leave the server, and it’s deleted.
To hide it for a while, set yourself to Invisible in Discord: your page shows Offline. To stop for good, remove the block.
